Nehemiah Tabernacle Statement of Doctrine We believe that the bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God, written by holy men of the old as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. We believe in one God who is infinite in power, holy in nature, attributes and purposes, as well as omniscient and omnipresent. We believe that Jesus was revealed to us as Father in Creation, as Son in Redemption, and Holy Spirit in His comforting grace that never leaves those who trust in Him. We believe in the Virgin Birth; Jesus was both human and divine. He was God manifested in the flesh. We believe in death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe in baptism in water by immersion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and in the baptism of the Holy Ghost, speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. We believe in sanctification and holiness. We believe in Holy Communion, foot washing and divine healing. We believe in serving others, especially individuals who can not help themselves. Our chief aim is to glorify our Savior, who is Jesus the Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. The Affirming Pentecostal Church International Statement of Faith 1. God - There is one God who has manifested himself as Father in creation, the Son in Redemption, and the Holy Ghost in Regeneration. We affirm the early Apostolic view that Jesus was both fully human and fully divine, and is fullness of the Godhead manifested in the flesh. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, had a miraculous ministry, died on the cross for sin of all, rose from the dead, and will come again. 2. Bible - The bible is the divinely inspired Word of God. It was written by men of old as the Holy Ghost moved on them. No contention is made for a perfect translation, and care should be given to understanding God's Word as it was intended to be understood, by the original recipients, maintaining historical and cultural context. 3. Humanity - All people have inherited a sinful nature resulting from the fall of Adam and Eve. In addition to this, every person has sinned of their own volition and is need of a Savior. 4. Redemption - Redemption is a gift of God purchased by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is available to all and obtained through faith, grace, and obedience to the Word of God. The Apostolic message calls for: Belief in Christ, Repentance, Water Baptism by full immersion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and receiving the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues. 5. Holiness - Holiness is an ongoing process of separation from sin and growing closer to God and God's will. We encourage every believer to live a life of modesty, moderation, honesty and morality. We are to flee sin in pursuit of God's righteousness in our lives. 6. Church - Those who have responded to the Word of God, not only as believers, but as doers, makeup the church of Jesus Christ. The church is also known as the Bride of Christ and bears His name in covenant relationship. Jesus, not any other individual or entity should determine who is His bride. 7. Gifts and Fruit of the Spirit - We believe each believer should seek to excel in the gifts and the fruit of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is God's work in the believer's life. The Gifts of the Spirit are entusted to the church for the duration of the church age. These gifts are governed by the parameters laid down in Scripture. 8. Gender & Orientation - We believe gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation are irrelevant to our relationship with God. In God's eyes, both in Christ's body and in Heaven, there is neither male nor female. We believe that God is no respecter of persons in forming of marriages. We believe God's ideal for sexual expression is that it be between only two people, both of lawful age, both fully consenting, unrelated, and united by love in partnership. 9. Last Things - Scripture teaches that Jesus will return for His church. We also believe that there will be a seven-year tribulation during which time the anti-Christ will be revealed. Following the Great tribulation, the Battle of Armageddon will be fought which will culminate in Christ's victory over Satan. Thus begins Christ's one-thousand year Earthly reign of peace. This millennial reign will end with the judgement of the human race and the assignment of all people to their eternal reward or punishment. |
